The Ultimate Adjustable Snare Cajon
The snare system works by using a stainless steel spring hinge and a reverse cantilever to press the snare wires onto the back of the drum head. The pressure from the spring hinge auto-locks the system preventing shifting or slipping, yet allows for easy adjustment through it's full range of movement with the twist of a single knob.
The knob micro-adjusts the tension of the snare wires to produce a wide variety of timbres, from totally clean sounds with the snare fully off, to dirty and rattly sounds, warm full snare hits, and all the way up to a tight, cracking snare. On many settings the snare pops while the usual range of clean bass, mid-tone, and rim shots are maintained. The snare dials into a specific spot on the head so that the snare sound gets added to the mix of possible sounds by striking the head in the “hot spot”. At certain settings the snare wires exert some pressure on the head which can subtly alter the fundamental pitch and tone. At another setting the snare wires can be made to vibrate without buzzing for a low moaning resonance.
The knob only rotates a couple revolutions so even small adjustments affect the sound. It is not a simple on/off system, but rather it is continuously variable and fully adjustable. There are positive stops at full on and full off and a dampener to silence the snare wires in the full off position.
The assembly is built to last with stainless steel and solid wood structural components, through bolts, a threaded insert for the solid steel adjuster rod, positive stops, a chrome plated solid brass knurled knob, etc.
Instructions for use:
The knob on the side of the drum is for adjusting the snare.
Clockwise is to "tighten" or "dial up" the snare. Counterclockwise "loosens" or "dials down the snare.
There are positive stops at full on and full off that you can feel.
Warning: If you keep on trying to turn the knob after it has stopped rotating, you can twist the knob off.
